New York College Transfer Resources
Although New York does not have a centralized articulation program, the state’s two public university systems do offer some useful tools for transfer students. At The City University of New York (CUNY), the Transfer Information & Program Planning System (TIPPS) offers an online database of course equivalencies, articulation agreements and transfer policies. Graduates of a CUNY community college also enjoy another benefit: they are guaranteed admission to an in-system four-year college – although not necessarily their first choice – as long as they satisfy the program’s minimum requirements.
At The State University of New York (SUNY), students do not get an acceptance guarantee, but the system does offer comprehensive transfer information. Whether you’re transferring from within the SUNY system or not, SUNY’s “Transfer Paths” can help you identify the core coursework to prepare for your transfer.
For out-of-state and private school transfers, students must contact each institution to learn more about its transfer policies.
